RecapButler vs tl;dv
The clip-friendly recorder versus the approval-gated butler
tl;dv (too long; did not view) approaches meetings from a sharing angle: record everything, then make the moments easy to clip, timestamp and send to people who were not there. It is popular with product and sales teams that live on async video, and its multi-meeting AI reports are a clever way to mine patterns across calls. RecapButler is aimed at a different pain: the operational follow-through after agency client calls, where decisions must be captured, approved and written into systems of record.
Là où tl;dv excelle
- Clips and timestamps are first class: sharing a two-minute moment instead of a one-hour recording changes how teams communicate.
- The free plan includes unlimited recordings and transcripts, which is generous for getting started.
- Multi-meeting AI reports can surface patterns across many calls, useful for sales coaching and research.
- Localized pricing with parity purchasing discounts makes it notably accessible outside high-income markets.
Là où RecapButler diffère
- An approval gate before anything is written. RecapButler drafts CRM updates, tasks and follow-ups from the meeting, then waits. Nothing touches your systems until a human approves it, edits it, or rejects it.
- An agency client-state machine. RecapButler models each client as a living account with open decisions, commitments and owners, so a meeting updates the state of the relationship, not just a notes archive.
- EU data residency with GDPR and KVKK in mind from day one. Meeting content stays in EU hosting, and we do not train models on customer data.
- An audit trail as a feature, not a log file. Every write RecapButler makes records what was proposed, who approved it and when, so you can answer "why does the CRM say this" months later.
- A butler, not a notetaker. The product is judged on whether the right updates landed in the right systems with your sign-off, not on how pretty the summary looks.
Note sur les tarifs
tl;dv (verified July 2026): the free plan includes unlimited recordings and transcripts with a capped allotment of AI meeting notes (tl;dv's own materials are inconsistent on the exact cap; check their pricing page). Pro is $18 and Business is $29 per user per month, and tl;dv offers parity purchasing discounts by region. Check the tl;dv pricing page for current numbers.

Le verdict
If your team communicates in clips and wants a generous free recorder with cross-meeting analysis, tl;dv is a strong and fairly priced choice. If your agency loses money when a commitment made on a call never becomes a CRM entry or a task, RecapButler closes that loop, and it asks before it writes.
